The Garden
By Jeff Fagan
Imagine a raised garden bed in your yard, spacious enough to plant whatever you desire. However, this garden is overrun with weeds, choking out any potential for new growth. You've been eyeing it for years, envisioning its potential, but hesitating to tackle the daunting task of clearing it. Finally, you decide that enough is enough – it's time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.
Attempting to plant anything in its current state would be futile; the weed's; roots would strangle any new growth. You begin by hand-picking the weeds, but soon realize the need for gardening gloves, shovels, and trash bags. With determination and time, you clear the garden of weeds, but the work doesn't end there.
The soil needs to be sifted to remove any remaining weed roots that could sprout new growth. You gather more tools for this task. Next, you replenish the soil with new nutrients, as the weeds have depleted the soil of its goodness. After mixing in the new soil and nutrients, you rake the soil until it's smooth and ready for planting.

Stepping back, you admire the transformation – a clean, fertile garden bed ready for new life. The hard work is behind you, and now it's time to choose what to plant. Whether herbs, vegetables, or flowers, the decision is yours. You have the power to decide what grows in your garden and what doesn't.

Despite your efforts, weeds will inevitably try to reclaim their territory. This time, however, you are prepared. You spot a weed and promptly remove it, knowing that with the right tools and vigilance, your garden will flourish.
